T.B. of the spine or Kochs infection is very common in our country. It is no more a disease of the poor and ill nourished. Many resistant strains of tuberculosis are appearing.

The gold standard of treatment is still drug therapy or AKT. However, in the presence of spinal cord compression an urgent operation may be needed to avoid paraplegia.

Use of metal implants is gradually increasing to prevent late onset problems like weakness or deformities in T.B. spine.
